COLERAINE BENEFIT CHEAT CAUGHT

Benefit fraudster, Belinda White, was convicted recently for wrongly claiming benefits from the Social Security Agency.

The 37 year old woman, of 22 Church Row, Kilrea, Coleraine was fraudulently in receipt of income support and housing benefit as she failed to declare living together as husband and wife while claiming benefits as a single person. The overpayments amounted to over £1,400.

As Ms White, failed to appear in court, the magistrate, issued a warrant for her arrest and the case was proved in the latter’s absence.

Ms White is also required to pay back to the Social Security Agency the £1400 she falsely claimed.

This is the latest of a series of prosecutions brought by the Agency in its drive to clamp down on benefit fraud.
