OUT WITH THE OLD AND IN WITH THE NEW FOR THE A-Z GUIDE FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES
A new improved A-Z Guide for People with Disabilities was launched today by Anne Flanagan, Customer Service Director for the Social Security Agency at Malone House.
The guide, produced in partnership with Disability Action, has been completely revised for 2004. It provides information on everything from Aids and Equipment for people with disabilities to Social Security Benefits.
Speaking at the launch of the event at Malone House, Anne Flanagan said: "It is vital that we reach out to the people who use our services. The A-Z Guide helps us provide a wide range of information in one source for people with disabilities. The guide is an invaluable resource for people with disabilities, their carers and other people in the sector and has proved to be very successful since its inception in 2002."
Monica Wilson, Chief Executive, Disability Action added: "Publications like this are important sources of information for people with disabilities and we would encourage people to get this free guide in order to ensure that they have as much information as possible on the range of services available to disabled people in Northern Ireland."
Comments already received by Disability Action from their customers include:
"The A-Z Guide is a great source of information, I was able to find out about what services are available and in particular I was able to get information on the type of benefits that I am entitled to."
"It is a resource that I use often and it’s fantastic that it has been updated for 2004 as there is really no other publication like it.’
The updated guide has a new section on pensions as well as revised contact details for all the organisations featured, to ensure that people with disabilities have up-to-date information.
The A-Z Guide is available from Social Security and Jobs & Benefits offices. To order copies of the A-Z Guide please contact Disability Action, telephone 028 9029 7878 or textphone 028 9029 7882. Alternatively you can download a copy from
