£15,000 SOCIAL SECURITY FRAUDSTER CONVICTED

Belfast magistrate’s court recently convicted, Mr Thomas McKinley, 412 Antrim Road, Belfast, for fraudulently claiming benefits while working of over £5,000 in income support and nearly £10,000 in housing Benefit from the Social Security Agency.

The court heard that Mr McKinley, over a period of three years, from 1999-2002, cashed Social Security cheques, which he knew he was not entitled to.

The defendant was sentenced to 150 hours community service, ordered to cover the court costs and has agreed to pay back the overpayment to the Social Security Agency.
