TONY HOPKINS RE-APPOINTED AS LAGANSIDE CHAIRMAN

The re-appointment of Tony Hopkins as Chairman of the Board of Laganside Corporation was announced today by Des Browne MP, the Minister with responsibility for Social Development.

Mr Hopkins, a former Partner with Deloitte and Touche, will continue to lead the Corporation until it has completed its regeneration remit. This is expected to be by or before March 2007.

The Minister said:

"This appointment, which has the approval of the Secretary of State, will provide vital continuity as the Laganside Corporation moves towards the completion of its task of guiding the major regeneration that has taken place in the past decade.

"Given his impressive service to date and his willingness to continue in the role, Mr Hopkins is particularly well equipped to meet this challenge."

Mr Hopkins has been Chairman of Laganside Corporation since 1997. His reappointment, effective from June 14, has the agreement of Dame Rennie Fritchie, the Commissioner for Public Appointments in Northern Ireland.
