NIGEL DODDS OVERSEES EAST BELFAST HOUSING SUPPORT DRIVE
People whose homes are caught up in the recent street violence in East Belfast will receive maximum assistance from the Northern Ireland Housing Executive, the Minister for Social Development, Nigel Dodds MP MLA, pledged today.
The Minister was speaking during a visit to the Housing Executive area office responsible for East Belfast where he met manager, Richard Williamson, who is co-ordinating the support effort.
The Minister said: "I am very much aware, from similar problems in my own constituency, that the Housing Executive can play a major part in helping to alleviate the stress experienced by people who are caught up in street violence. It is a sad reflection on our society that this is necessary, but I am determined that whatever assistance is needed will be available.
"I am keen in ensure that this is the case. The Housing Executive’s District Manager, Richard Williamson, has already visited the area. He is accessible to anyone who is concerned about protection for their homes or whose property has been damaged."
