CLOSURE OF C&A

Commenting on the C&A decision to close their Belfast store Minister for Social Development, Nigel Dodds, said; "It is very disappointing that a household name like C&A is to close all their UK shops. But we are all aware of the intense competition in the High Street retail sector and the changes that are taking place.

"However, while it is disappointing for the employees of this particular company, the wider picture is that central Belfast is still a highly attractive location and other big names in retailing are keen to expand here.

"I hope to announce some positive news of a major development in city centre retailing within the next few weeks.
