CONTRACT AWARDED FOR DROMORE INNER LINK ROAD

Department for Regional Development Minister, Peter Robinson, announced that the contract for the construction of the Dromore Inner Link Road, Co Tyrone, has today been awarded to F. Fox Contracts of Omagh.

The scheme will involve the construction of 600 metres of new carriageway on the east and south sides of the town centre between new roundabout junctions with Omagh Road and Galbally Road, together with footways and facilities for public transport. It also includes junctions with Stoneybatter Road and Johns Street.

The estimated cost of the scheme is approximately £0.5M and the work, which is scheduled to commence in January 2000, will take approximately 25 weeks to complete.

The Minister said, "The construction of the Dromore Inner Link Road will provide an alternative route for through traffic on the Omagh to Irvinestown road. It will significantly improve the local environment and will be welcomed, not only by those using the through road, but by those who live, work and conduct business in the centre of Dromore".
