LICENCE AWARDED TO NORTHERN IRELAND WATER

The licence for Northern Ireland Water (NIW) has been published and will take effect from 1 April 2007. It sets conditions on NIW as to how it operates as a water and sewerage undertaker. The licence will be regulated by the Northern Ireland Authority for Utility Regulation (also known as Ofreg).

The award of the licence to NIW follows a period of pubic consultation and the publication of the consultation report on the licence yesterday.
