Ł2.6 MILLION INVESTED IN LIMAVADY

Roads Service has announced that Ł2.6 million is being invested in capital and maintenance schemes in the Limavady area this year.
Speaking to Limavady Borough Council as she delivered the Autumn Report, Deidre Mackle, from Roads Service Northern Division, said: "The vertical realignment scheme at Ballyquin Road at its junction with Drumaduff Road and the visibility sight splay improvements at Ballyquin Road and Highlands Road are now complete."
Ms Mackle said: "Other schemes which will be taken forward include a bend realignment on the Ballyquin Road at Scriggan and a footway on Dry Arch Road, Dungiven to connect Legavallon Road and Ballyquin Road.
"Also programmed for this year are traffic calming schemes on Edenmore Road between Bovally Road and Mount Eden Road and on Roemill Road between Ballyquin Road and Catherine Street," said Ms Mackle.
"Roads Service is making every effort to keep disruption to a minimum and has completed as many schemes as possible during the summer months when there is generally less traffic. However, most road users appreciate that road improvements can't be done without some disruption to traffic," she said.
"In the last three years some Ł735 million has been spent on developing and maintaining the road network across Northern Ireland - Ł495 million on road maintenance and Ł240 million on capital improvements. This represents a huge investment."
At the meeting she discussed the priorities for road improvements in 2007/08. She said: "It is hoped to commence construction in Spring 2007 of the A37 Gortcorbies climbing lane on the Limavady to Coleraine road and also to realign and widen the Drumacarney Bridge on the Baranailt Road which has a history of 'damage only' collisions."
