CRESCENT LINK DUALLING STAGE II OPENS IN DERRY
The latest phase of the Crescent Link in Londonderry, costing £1 million, officially opened today.
The scheme, which has provided an additional 750m of dual carriageway on the Crescent Link between the Crescent Link Retail Park and Kilfennan Road was funded by developers.
The Mayor of Derry City Council, Councillor Helen Quigley opened Stage II of the Crescent Link dualling. Work also included the construction of a new roundabout at Kilfennan Road to provide access to the new housing to the south of the Crescent Link.
The new stretch of road, which also includes new and improved pedestrian and cycling facilities, was designed and supervised by Road Service and constructed by B. Mullan & Sons (Contractors) Ltd, Limavady.
Jim Beattie, Divisional Roads Manager for Roads Service, Northern Division, added his appreciation to the contractor for completing the scheme with the minimum of disruption to normal traffic flow and to the co-operation of all road users during construction.
Mr Beattie emphasised the importance of the Crescent Link as it is part of the North Western Key Transport Corridor and the dualling of this road is essential to unlocking further housing and retail development in the area.
