OPENING OF OMAGH THROUGHPASS STAGE 3
The third stage of the Omagh Throughpass is due to open on Friday 18 August 2006.
The throughpass will provide the link from the end of the existing throughpass at the Great Northern road to the main A5 road at Doogary.
Divisional Roads Manager Pat Doherty said there would be a number of changes to existing traffic arrangements, as a result of the scheme, particularly in the Dublin Road area.
Focussing on road safety, Mr Doherty asked drivers to exercise due care until they became more familiar with the new road layout and traffic arrangements. "Drivers need to be extra careful travelling through the new traffic management arrangements and to adhere to the warning signs and diversion routes. Completion works at the Doogary and Dublin Road ends of the new road will be ongoing over the coming weeks and there will be temporary diversions in place over the next coming weeks," he said.
The new road arrangements include:
DUBLIN ROAD / GREAT NORTHERN ROAD JUNCTION
Northbound traffic from the town centre should use the left-hand lane at this junction and proceed along the Dublin Road to the next junction (at the new bridge). Turn right, using the on-slip to access the Great Northern Road (where it ties into Stage 3) and then proceed towards the Kevlin Road junction, as normal.
Southbound traffic from the town centre should use the right-hand lane at this junction and turn right into the link road to the Great Northern Road/Stage 3. This junction is left-in / left-out only. Southbound traffic should turn left out of this junction and proceed along Stage 3 (under the new Dublin Road bridge) towards the new Crevenagh Road roundabout.
The traffic lights will remain at this junction until the new traffic lights being installed at the on-slip / off-slip junctions are complete. It will then be changed to a mini-roundabout.
The Dublin Road will be reconstructed between this junction and the new bridge from the 29th August 2006 to the end of September 2006. This will involve only one lane operating for the duration of these works so delays will be inevitable and Roads Service would advise local motorists to use alternative routes if possible. An alternative route to the town centre (to avoid the road works) will be available, for traffic from the Ballygawley direction, via the Crevenagh Road and Campsie Road.

ON-SLIP / OFF-SLIP JUNCTIONS ON DUBLIN ROAD (AT BRIDGE)
Northbound traffic should use the on-slip to access the Great Northern Road (where it ties into Stage 3) and then proceed towards the Kevlin Road junction, as normal.
Town centre / Dublin Road traffic can leave Stage 3 using the off-slip (north of the Crevenagh Road roundabout) and turn either left or right at the Dublin Road junction
This junction will operate as priority junctions until the installation of the traffic lights. It is anticipated that these will be installed in September 2006.

DOOGARY ROAD / STAGE 3 JUNCTION
It is proposed to complete this junction between 21 August and 25 August 2006. This junction will be restricted to southbound traffic only. Motorists wishing to access Dublin Road should follow Stage 3 of the Throughpass to the Crevenagh Road Roundabout and follow the signs for Town Centre.
