ROADWORKS ON A2 BELFAST ROAD

DRD Roads Service has today announced their intention to provide approximately 370m of new road drainage on the A2 Belfast Road between Cable Road, Whitehead and the Blow Hole.

The drainage works are programmed to commence on Monday 7 February 2005 and should be completed within three weeks. The carriageway will be resurfaced during the following week.

Temporary traffic management arrangements will be implemented during the course of the work and, although Roads Service will endeavour to keep disruption to a minimum, some delays are likely.

Periodic lane closures will be required in each direction between 09:30 and 16:00 hrs each day. These lane closures will be over short lengths of approximately 100m and will be controlled by temporary traffic signals.

To facilitate the carriageway resurfacing work, periodic lane closures in each direction will be introduced over a 300m stretch of carriageway and will be controlled by manually operated STOP/GO boards. Traffic speed through the works will be restricted to 10mph and will be controlled by use of a "Follow-Me" vehicle.

Significant traffic congestion is likely and the public should allow additional travelling time to complete journeys.
