ROADS SERVICE INVEST IN BELFAST INFRASTRUCTURE

Progress on structural road maintenance in the Castlereagh area this year was reported by Deputy Divisional Roads Manager,
Mr Tom McCourt, when he presented DRD Roads Service’s autumn report to the Borough Council.

Introducing the report, Mr McCourt said: "The level of investment in the Castlereagh area is indicative of the continued high levels of investment across Northern Ireland that, once again, sees Road Service committing some £70m towards structural maintenance. It is worth noting that the vast majority of this money, some 90% in fact, is being earmarked for work on non-trunk roads, which form the bulk of the road network in this area."

Mr McCourt reviewed recently completed works and outlined plans for the coming year. He said: "In addition to a substantial programme of traffic management projects, approximately £700k has been spent, in the Castlereagh area, on minor works schemes, such as footway provision and junction improvement on Manse Road at Glencregagh Road."
