ROAD IMPROVEMENTS COMMENCE ON A3 NORTHWAY, PORTADOWN AT SEAGOE ROAD

DRD Roads Service will be starting a road improvement scheme on the A3 Northway, Portadown at its junction with Seagoe Road, on Monday 4 October 2004. The scheme is expected to take approximately eight weeks to complete.

A DRD Roads Service spokesperson said: "New traffic signals will be provided at the junction of the A3 Northway and Seagoe Road, Portadown. This work forms part of the advance traffic management arrangements associated with the Bann Bridge improvement scheme in Portadown, which is due to start in January 2005.

"Roads Service also intends to take this opportunity to widen the adjacent section of A3 Northway in order to provide two lanes into town from the Seagoe Road junction and to carry out any necessary resurfacing work. The existing right turn lane into Seagoe Road and a single traffic lane out of town will be retained.

"The scheme will involve some traffic disruption on Northway during October and November. However, the extension to the existing two-lane arrangement for town-bound traffic will be of considerable benefit in relation to traffic progression along this busy route and will reduce the possibility of traffic delays during the bridge improvement scheme."
