APPOINTMENT TO THE BOARD OF BELFAST HARBOUR COMMISSIONERS ANNOUNCED
Minister of State, John Spellar, MP, today announced the re-appointment of the current Chairman of Belfast Harbour Commissioners.
The re-appointment, which is for a further period of two years, will take effect from 1 January 2005.
The Minister said: "I am delighted that Mr Frank Cushnahan has agreed to serve as Chairman for another two years. Mr Cushnahan’s re-appointment will continue to bring stability, continuity of knowledge and experience and strong leadership to the Board following its reconstitution in January 2005. I wish him every success in the post."
NOTES TO EDITORS:
- The Board of Belfast Harbour Commissioners is responsible for the improvement, maintenance and management of Belfast Port and for the accommodation and facilities within it. The Chairman’s post currently attracts £27,730 per annum.
- The present term of office for the members of the Board expires on 31 December 2004 and a new Board is being appointed from 1 January 2005, for a period of three years.
- Mr Cushnahan has already served six years as Chairman of Belfast Harbour Commissioners.
