MAJOR RESURFACING SCHEME ON ARMAGH ROAD, PORTADOWN

Roads Service will resurface the Armagh Road, Portadown, through its junction with Brownstown Road and Mahon Road, in September, as part of this year’s asphalt resurfacing programme.

A Roads Service spokesperson said: "This £40,000 scheme will strengthen this road, improving the skidding resistance and running surface for the safety and comfort of road users. The works will start on Monday, 13 September, but there should be no delays or lane closures until 17 September.

"The scheme has been carefully programmed to minimise inconvenience to the travelling public. However, the works may cause some disruption. To reduce the amount of disruption to traffic, the main part of the work will be carried out over two successive weekends.

"The Brownstown Road and Mahon Road junctions will be closed, from 6:30pm on Friday, 17 September to 6:00pm on Sunday, 19 September and from 6:30pm on Friday, 24 September to 6:00pm on Sunday, 26 September. Diversions will be in operation during these closures and will be clearly signed. During weekdays, preparatory and other essential works will be in progress and traffic should proceed with caution through the site."

Roads Service apologises for any inconvenience caused by the works and would ask for the co-operation and patience of the general public during this period.
