PUBLIC VIEWS SOUGHT ON PROPOSED IMPROVEMENTS TO THE A4 AND A5
The public’s views are now being sought for the proposed improvements to the A4 and A5 Dungannon to Ballygawley, Annaghilla and Tullyvar Roads. This £80 million scheme forms part of the £250 million public, private, partnership road improvement package announced by Minister of State, John Spellar, MP, last month.
DRD Roads Service are inviting people to attend a Public Information Day on the 16th February, from 12.00pm to 8.00pm, at the Linen Green, Moygashel and on Tuesday, 17th February, at the Ballygawley Community Centre, from 1.30pm to 8.00pm. The Information Days give the public the opportunity to find out how they can influence the scheme.
The improvements propose the dualling of the A4 between Dungannon and Ballygawley and realignments to the A4 Annaghilla Road, A5 Tullyvar Road and Ballygawley Roundabout.
Consultants, Mouchel Parkman, were appointed by Roads Service in October 2003, to take these schemes through the statutory procedures of Environmental Statement, Direction Order and Vesting Order.
The Divisional Roads Manager, Pat Doherty, is urging as many people as possible to attend:
"It is important that Roads Service and Mouchel Parkman are advised at the earliest possible opportunity of any issues which may be relevant to the assessment of this project."
At this initial stage a very large study area is considered and it is necessary to take all information on board to narrow this area down to a route corridor. By late spring, this corridor will have been refined further to a number of possible route options.
