MINISTER ACKNOWLEDGES RETIREMENT OF TED HESKETH

On the announcement that Ted Hesketh, CBE, plans to retire from his current post as Managing Director of Translink, effective 31 March 2003, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Angela Smith, MP, made the following comment:

"The contribution of Ted Hesketh to public transport and wider civic affairs in Northern Ireland is well known. This was acknowledged earlier this year when he was awarded a CBE in the Queens Birthday Honours List.

"On behalf of the Department for Regional Development, I wish to take this opportunity to thank him for his efforts over many difficult years, to develop public transport services in Northern Ireland and to wish him and his family a long and fulfilling retirement."
