WATER SERVICE ASK CUSTOMERS TO CHECK FOR BURSTS
DRD Water Service emergency teams have repaired more than 130 bursts in watermains over the last few days.
Water Service customers are now being urged to check their pipes for further bursts following the recent spell of severe weather and subsequent thaw.
A spokesperson for the Water Service said: "We believe that there are a considerable number of bursts on customers’ pipework and these are having an impact on water demand. Water Service therefore asks property owners to inspect their pipework for any signs of bursts.
"Particular attention should be paid to unattended properties, outlying buildings and cattle troughs. All outside taps should be inspected and any burst pipes should be isolated and repaired promptly."
All agricultural, business and commercial customers with water meters are asked to check their meters for excess water flows which could indicate leaks or bursts in their systems.
Customers who are experiencing problems should contact Water Service Customer Service Units on 08457 440088 or by email to waterline@waterni.gov.uk. The text phone for customers with hearing difficulties is 08457 023206.
The spokesperson said: "Water Service continues to deal as quickly as possible with all burst on its water mains and apologises to customers who have been without a water supply, even for a short period during the past few days."
