NEW TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT SCHEME FOR NEWBUILDINGS

DRD Roads Service has announced details of a proposed Traffic Management Scheme along Duncastle Road in Newbuildings.

The scheme is aimed at reducing vehicle speeds along Duncastle Road, and improving facilities for other road users.

A spokesperson for the Roads Service said: "The carriageway will be narrowed slightly and centre hatching provided to accommodate right turning traffic. Two pedestrian refuge islands will also be constructed."

As Duncastle road is part of the National Cycle Network, a footway/cycle track will also be provided along the Primity Crescent side of the road, from the town boundary to link up with the existing Victoria Road cycle track at Foyle Crescent.

The spokesperson said: "It is hoped that the scheme will be implemented next year and comments from the public are welcome. Further details of the scheme can be obtained from the Roads Service by writing to: 1 Crescent Road, Londonderry, or by telephoning 028 7132 1600."
