LONDONDERRY PORT AND HARBOUR COMMISSIONERS ACHIEVE ISO ACCREDITATION

Regional Development Minister, Gregory Campbell, MP, MLA, has congratulated Londonderry Port and Harbour Commissioners for achieving an internationally recognised quality standard.

The Minister presented the ISO 14001 accreditation to the Commissioners when he visited the port today.

Mr Campbell said: "The achievement of this internationally recognised quality standard speaks volumes for the Commissioners’ commitment to improving the environment for the Port, its users, staff and the whole local community. I warmly congratulate the Commissioners on their success; I have no doubt they will want to build on this in the future."

During his visit, the Minister also received a presentation from the Commissioners on the outcome of the recent public consultation exercise on Fort George site.

"I very much look forward to seeing the outcome of the proposed Strategic Review of the Port and Fort George site. I would also commend the Commissioners on the wide-ranging public consultation process they have undertaken.

"As a result of this, they are now very well informed regarding public opinion and this information will obviously be useful during their further consideration of the matter."
