SUMMARY OF RESPONSES TO SINGLE EQUALITY BILL CONSULTATION PUBLISHED
Equality Minister, John Spellar MP, today published a report summarising the 109 responses received during the recent consultation on options for a Single Equality Bill. The Bill aims to harmonise existing equality and anti-discrimination legislation, extending and amending it where appropriate.
Mr Spellar said: "I would like to thank those who responded to the consultation paper on the Single Equality Bill and for the care taken in formulating their replies to the significant and complex issues in the document. The volume and range of responses are indicative of the importance of this exercise to people in Northern Ireland and the interest shown in it.
"I intend to meet with the Northern Ireland political parties to discuss the way ahead for this important legislation."
