KILREA MAN FINED FOR WASTE OFFENCES

Mr Sean Campbell, aged 36, of Blackrock Road, Kilrea was fined a total of £300 and £148 court costs at Coleraine Magistrates Court on Friday 2 February 2007 for breaches of waste management legislation.

Environment and Heritage Service (EHS) officers investigated a site at 69 Cloyfin Road Coleraine on 4 June 2004, where an illegal deposit of mixed demolition material was observed at an unauthorised site.

Mr Campbell pleaded guilty to one charge each of Articles 4(1)(a) and 4(1)(b) of the Waste and Contaminated Land (N.I.) Order 1997.

  1. Mr Sean Campbell pleaded guilty and was fined for the following charges:
  2. a. £150 for one charge of Article 4(1)(a) of The Waste and Contaminated Land (Northern Ireland) Order 1997. The charge related to knowingly caused or knowingly permitted controlled waste to be deposited in or on land, without there being in force a waste management licence authorizing the deposit.

    b. £150 for one charge of Article 4(1)(b) of The Waste and Contaminated Land (Northern Ireland) Order 1997. The charge related to the treating, keeping or disposing of controlled waste, or knowingly caused or knowingly permitted controlled waste to be treated, kept or disposed of, in or on land, except under and in accordance with a waste management licence.
