NEWRY MAN FINED £1,000 FOR WASTE OFFENCES
Mr Patrick Clarke of Corcreechy Road, Newry was fined today at Newry Magistrates' Court for breaches of waste management legislation.
Mr Clarke pleaded guilty to two charges arising from an investigation by Environment and Heritage Service officers of a site at Carnacally Road, Newry, Co Down. During inspections, it was established that controlled waste had been deposited on the site.

Mr Patrick Clarke pleaded guilty to two offences and was fined a total of £1,000 (plus £37 court costs); £500 on each of the following charges under the Waste and Contaminated Land (Northern Ireland) Order 1997:
Article 4(1)(a). The charge related to the deposit of controlled waste, or knowingly causing or knowingly permitting controlled waste to be disposed in or on any land unless a waste management licence authorising the deposit is in force and the deposit in accordance with the licence;
Article 4(1)(b). The charge related to the treatment, keeping or disposal of controlled waste or knowingly cause or knowingly permit controlled waste to be treated, kept or disposed of in or on any land, except under and in accordance with a waste management licence.
