TAXI PLATING SCHEME POSTPONED UNTIL 15 NOVEMBER 2004

The DOE Driver and Vehicle Licensing Northern Ireland (DVLNI) has had to postpone the launch date for the new taxi identification plating scheme, until 15 November 2004.

Although some 5000 identification plates have been issued to date, 1500 remain outstanding. The delay has largely been caused by the increase in the number of notifications of change of address and/or vehicle. The associated advertising campaign will also now start on 15 November 2004. The public should be aware that, until this date, not all legitimate taxis will be able to display the identification plates.
