8 June 2000

Thursday 8 June is World Oceans Day

To celebrate the attractions of our underwater world, new DOE's Environment Heritage Service (EHS) has set up a day of fun activities, exhibits and displays. What's more, they're absolutely free!

In highlighting the amazing attractions, EHS's Rita Calwell said:"Touch and see some of the more unusual inhabitants of our shores and coastal waters when Exploris Aquarium, Portaferry, visit with their roadshow.

"Create crabs, lobsters, whales, dolphins and all sorts of wonderful creatures at Jim Russell's 'newspaper' sculpture or go birdwatching with Rosemary Hunter.

"Fun, games, competitions, quizzes, scavenger hunts, face painting, it's all there and any wildlife question you have ever had - it will be answered by the experts."
