DOE ANNOUNCES REPAIRS TO HISTORIC STRUCTURE AT ROE VALLEY COUNTRY PARK
DOE ANNOUNCES REPAIRS TO HISTORIC STRUCTURE AT ROE VALLEY COUNTRY PARK
New DOE's Environment and Heritage Service (EHS), today announced that work has commenced on repair work at Moore's Weir, Roe Valley.
The DOE's Dr John Faulkner, Director of Natural Heritage said:
"This historic structure is a reminder of our industrial archaeology and repairs will be in keeping with its architectural and technical features.
"The initial work involves a temporary piped by-pass and bend on the bed of the river to direct it. After this first stage, which should take three to four weeks, it is anticipated that total repairs, including a fish pass, will take a further two to three months."
Dr Faulkner concluded.
"It is important that we channel water via our millraces and holding ponds. The rich heritage of our natural and built environment, of which this weir forms an important part, greatly depends on this."
