CLIMATE CHANGE PROGRAMME LAUNCHED
The Department of the Environment today issued a consultation paper entitled "Climate Change: Draft UK Programme". A similar consultation is being undertaken simultaneously in England, Scotland and Wales.
The draft programme sets out a comprehensive strategy for tackling climate change in the UK. It outlines a variety of fiscal and regulatory measures and policies, covering all sectors of the economy that will safely deliver the UK's Kyoto and domestic goal by cutting carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases.
This draft programme is intended for everyone with an interest in climate change issues. If you wish to make your views known these should be sent to the address below by 2 June 2000:
