A JOB WELL DONE BY THE EMPLOYMENT SERVICE
A recent survey has shown that the Employment Service continues to deliver results for Northern Ireland employers.
Social and Market Research (SMR) carried out research on behalf of the Department for Employment and Learning by conducting telephone interviews with employers.
The findings of the survey are very positive, with the overall levels of satisfaction increasing from 77% to 90% between 2004 and 2006. It highlighted that there has been a significant growth in employer awareness of JobCentreOnline during this period, with more than 20% of vacancies being placed online.
Employers are very complimentary of the service, with 97% finding the entire process of placing a vacancy quick and easy to use. Figures from the survey have confirmed that the Employment Service aided 78% of employers in filling vacancies within an appropriate timescale.
The department operates a network of 35 offices across Northern Ireland to enable jobseekers to find employment and employers to fill vacancies.

1. The Department for Employment and Learning's employer survey, which was undertaken on its behalf by Social & Market Research (SMR), is a quantitative survey of a representative random sample of those employers who had used the Department's Employment Service within the last six months.
2. The Employment Service helps employers find suitable employees and supports jobseekers in their efforts to get into work. 3. From a selected sample of 1,200 employers, a total of 600 telephone surveys were completed during September 2006 by SMR.
