APPOINTMENT TO THE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY TRAINING BOARD

The Department for Employment and Learning has confirmed the appointment of the following Member to the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB). This appointment takes effect from 1 September 2003 and runs until 31 July 2005.

The appointment is to fill a vacancy left by the resignation of an existing member, Professor Brian Norton.

The appointee has not carried out any significant political activity in the last five years.

Educationalist

Professor David J Cleland is the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Queen’s University Belfast. His teaching interests are in structures, design, and construction technology and his research interests are also in construction areas.

Professor Cleland does not hold any other ministerial appointments.

NOTES TO EDITORS:

The Construction Industry Training Board is a Non Departmental Public Body which is funded by a statutory levy on employers in the industry. All appointments to the Board are made by the Department for Employment and Learning under the Industrial Training (NI) Order 1984.

Members receive an allowance of £148 for over four hours attendance.
