FARREN TRAVERSES THE CAUSEWAY

Dr Sean Farren, Minister of the Department of Higher and Further Education, Training and Employment, today visited the Causeway Institute of Further and Higher Education.

He began the day by first of all visiting the Coleraine Campus, where he was taken on a tour to see at first hand the facilities available and meet with both staff and students.

Speaking about his visit the Minister Dr Farren said: " I am very impressed by what I have seen here today. The Causeway Institute is proving invaluable to the local community within a wide and diverse geographic area.

" Further education colleges have a very significant role to play in widening access to post school education as well as contributing to the social, economic and cultural life of the regions in which they are located. I am convinced the Causeway Institute will make a very important contribution in this regard.

"I am also particularly pleased with the service provided to outlying areas by the Mobile Computer Unit, which is worth its weight in gold in this

technological era, and the continued expansion of resources throughout the campus’ libraries."

The Minister then attended a meeting with the Governors, Director and Senior Management Team to discuss issues pertinent to the Institute.

A visit to the Ballymoney Campus concluded the Minister’s visit to the Institute.
