JANE KENNEDY ANNOUNCES APPOINTMENTS TO THE SOUTH EASTERN EDUCATION AND LIBRARY BOARD
The Minister with responsibility for Education, Jane Kennedy MP, today announced the appointment of Dr Roy Montgomery and Mr Ivan Arbuthnot to fill vacancies on the South Eastern Education and Library Board.
Dr Montgomery and Mr Arbuthnot will serve in the other member category on the South Eastern Education and Library Board for its 8th term of office that will expire in 2005. These appointments do not carry a salary.
NOTES TO EDITORS:
The constitution of a Board is prescribed in Schedule 2 to the Education and Libraries (Northern Ireland) Order 1986. The membership of each Board is comprised of two-fifths District Councillors who have been nominated for appointment by their respective District Councils; of the balance of membership 25% are representatives of the Transferors of schools and the Trustees of maintained schools; and some 35% is made up of other persons appointed because of their interest in the services for which the Boards are responsible.
The five Education and Library Boards were reconstituted on 1 July 2001.
