JANE KENNEDY CONDEMNS ATTACK ON SCHOOL BUS AS ‘DEPLORABLE’

Minister with responsibility for Education, Jane Kennedy MP, has strongly condemned stone throwers who attacked a bus carrying pupils from Cavehill Primary School today.

Commenting on the incident she said:"This attack on a bus carrying school children from Cavehill Primary School is absolutely deplorable. Children should be able to travel to and from school without fear of attack or abuse.

"Any attack on pupils, or vehicles used to transport pupils, while travelling to and from school, is totally unacceptable and there can be no possible justification or excuse for this type of behaviour.

"This attack must have been extremely distressing for all pupils travelling on the bus concerned, and my sympathy goes to the pupils who were injured."

The Department of Education has been in contact with the Belfast Education and Library Board regarding this incident and will continue to monitor the situation.
