HANSON ANNOUNCES CONSULTATION ON LOCATION POLICY

Government today published the draft guiding principles which will help to determine the location of new public bodies in Northern Ireland.

Launching a consultation on the principles, Finance Minister David Hanson said: "The Review of Public Administration will involve the creation of a number of new public bodies in various sectors such as health and education.

"The decisions on where we locate those bodies will be significant and it is important that we get it right for all the people of Northern Ireland.

"The principles, on which we wish to consult, are the first steps to ensuring that these decisions are well informed, objective and fair."

The future location of public sector jobs is a key issue for the Review of Public Administration. This consultation is intended to provide guiding principles which will underpin decisions resulting from the RPA.

The consultation period will run from 26 January 2007 until 20 April 2007.
