NORTHERN IRELAND INDEX OF CONSTRUCTION
The Northern Ireland Index of Construction will be published on Thursday 4 May 2000. It relates to the value of construction output for the period 1 October to 31 December 1999. All figures are provisional.
During the three months ending 31 December 1999:
- The seasonally adjusted Index of Construction was 101.2, down 2.0 points on the previous quarter (103.2) and 6.9 points lower than the figure for October to December 1998 (108.1).
- The seasonally adjusted Index of New Work was 110.7, representing a fall of 2.6 points on the quarter ending 30 September 1999 and 8.2 points on the corresponding quarter in 1998.
- The seasonally adjusted Index of Repair and Maintenance Work also experienced a decline, down 3.5 points on the last quarter and 3.2 points on the quarter ending 31 December 1998.
- The estimated seasonally adjusted value of construction output (at 1995 prices) was £394 million, a decrease of 4% (£16 million) on the previous quarter, and 8% (£36 million) on the same quarter in 1998.
